type design
The artist Burial blends UK urban music with ambient and romantic elements. ‘Archangel’ is a typographic expression of his sound. Similar to Burial’s musical influences, blackletter styles bridge myth and modernity. So I adapted this style to be more vertical and condensed to reflect the urban environment, and applied diagonal hairlines inspired by glitch effects. Archangel also has OpenType alternatives for the capital letters.
