A brand refresh for Bauer Media’s newly consolidated family of stations under the Hits Radio name. This was part of a wider set of work delivered by my team including a major nationwide awareness campaign. The strategy centred on the high-energy and down-to-earth presenters who bring a daily boost of fun and energy for listeners. The creative aimed to reflect this same friendly, upbeat energy.





Brand refresh

I played a central role in creating and delivering the new brand system, including the zig-zag graphic which could be used as both background or overlay. The colour palette was simplified to bright green, pink and blue for a more vibrant, accessible feel. Further energy came from setting text at varied weights and widths using a variable font, Peridot. I also redrew the logo to highlight the word “hits” and adapted the holding shape to sit more comfortably in a square perimeter.


Campaign

With these brand assets in place, advertising production could move quickly and with full client support. This included the design of a key prop, the Hits Rickshaw, which carried the presenters around the country delivering the brand’s friendly energy in person.

The refresh has been very successful. Listener numbers have gone from strength to strength, and the look has been carried through over three consecutive campaigns without any modifications.
